A STAR HAS BURNT MY EYE began as a documentary concert, with work-in-progress showings in New York City at The Rattlestick Theater, Abrons Arts Center, Joe's Pub at The Public Theater, featuring Howard Fishman and a variety of musical performers including Anastasia Barzee, Rob Adkins, Jean Rohe, Susan Oetgen, Charlotte Mundy, and Russell Farhamg.
Further development at the Vox Festival at Dartmouth College led to a dramatized version of the piece, with an original script by Fishman, who appeared alongside performers Charlotte Mundy, Liam Robinson, and Jean Rohe, culminating with a workshop production at The Brick Theater in Brooklyn, NY, directed by Sarah Hughes.
The project's next stage of development included residencies at Celebration Barn in Maine, and at the Orchard Project in Saratoga Springs, NY. A STAR HAS BURNT MY EYE received its world premiere at the 2016 NEXT WAVE FESTIVAL at the BROOKLYN ACADEMY OF MUSIC (BAM), in a production staged by Paul Lazar, where its sold-out run was a New York Times "Critic's Pick."
Recent touring has included performances at Skidmore College, Vermont Arts Exchange, and at Castleton University.
