HFQ Reunion Show in NYC, March 24th

Twenty-four years after the release of DO WHAT I WANT, the last album recorded by Howard Fishman Quartet, Howard is reuniting with his band to preview material for a new album slated for release later this year.

This special, one-night only event at Joe’s Pub at the Public Theater will be the quartet's first public appearance together since 2003. The band includes: Russell Farhang (violin) Jon Flaugher (bass), Erik Jekabson (trumpet), and Mark McLean (drums), along with Fishman's vocals and guitar –– a group that helped pioneer the Brooklyn music scene of the late 90s and early aughts.

HFQ Headlines 20th Anniversary Pete's Candy Store Festival

unnamed.jpg

20 years ago, in December, 1999. Howard Fishman Quartet became the first band ever to play in the now legendary back room of Pete’s Candy Store, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The band went on to perform there every Thursday night for three straight years, when Pete’s served as a laboratory for work in progress, new songs, special guest appearances, and unhinged experimentation.

The venue celebrates its 20th anniversary with a week-long festival, and HFQ is back in its original slot, on Thursday from 10pm-midnight. Join us on December 5th for a very special show, featuring Russell Farhang on violin, Kirk Knuffke on cornet, and Nathan Peck on upright bass.
