Not one, not two, but THREE new HF recordings in the works for release this year. A brass band recording, featuring the BITING FISH; a new collection of original material, featuring various members of the HF collective; and the “Romania” song cycle. Stay tuned!
Seems Like Old Times
From April 2000-September 2003, Howard and the band were in residence every Thursday night at PETE’S CANDY STORE in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The little back room at Pete’s became a sort of musical laboratory for the band, where new material was constantly being tried out, new band members made their debuts, and spontaneity and experimentation ruled. So, it is with great pleasure that we announce Howard’s return to Thursday nights at Pete’s for the month of April only! Two sets begin at 11pm. New material. Special guests. Good times. Don’t miss it.
"Destroyed" in NYC
A newly updated version of Howard’s opera “we are destroyed” will have its next showing at the Abrons Arts Center in New York City on April 24, 25 and 26. Directed by Ed Schmidt, the work-in-progress will feature Susan Oetgen, Nicholas Webber and Sarah Wilson. This will be an expanded version of the work presented at Galapagos Art Space in December 2008 as part of Howard’s 10th anniversary celebration. See link to tickets above right.
Town Hall
Howard makes his NYC TOWN HALL debut on Feb. 23 when he and his quartet appear in the multi-performer revue BROADWAY BY THE YEAR: 1924. HFQ is scheduled to perform two Gershwin songs.
We Are Destroyed
"we are destroyed": Howard's theater project "we are destroyed" will be presented at the Abrons Arts Center in NYC in April. See the schedule page for details.
